A ranching family in Montana faces off against others encroaching on their land. Forrie J. Smith, who plays Lloyd, is experienced in the rodeo world. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to "forget" his Montana accent and reverts to the SoCal speaking voice he normally uses.. Featured in WatchMojo: Top 10 Summer TV Shows Off Your Radar (2018). I live in Darby, MT where most of this was filmed – just yesterday they were filming right across the street from me in a field with some horses and cattle. I believe that the series is a pretty solid story, and in a niche where Costner does his best. One thing I noticed about the first season, given my half-Indian side, is that you wonder who are the good guys and who are the bad guys – maybe both sides are both good and bad. I will admit it’s nice to see them filming while he’s here, the ranch is right down the road from me and I pass by almost everyday on my way to fish the Bitterroot River
